Continuing the Journey…
If you have been following me on my food truck adventures around the world, I hope you have enjoyed the journey.
I enjoyed this free inquiry project and finding a way to combine two of my passions: food and teaching through the use of a blog (I have thought about starting a food blog but never got around to it). Although I won’t be able to take a class of elementary school students to various food trucks for logistical and cost reasons, I think it would be fun to bring the learnings to them in a classroom.
I believe that I can inspire students to explore various countries/cultures (including their own) and learn about their food, traditions, and geography. By using the food truck idea, I can also expose students to the concept of entrepreneurship and incorporate these learnings into an art project where students create a food truck out of paper, cardboard, or simply by colouring a worksheet.
I hope that such a project would help students to:
- Learn some basics about starting a business, like marketing (the food truck design) and product development (the menu)
- Improve their creative and artistic skills
- Learn a little bit about maps and geography
- Become more culturally aware
In continuing the food truck journey I am looking forward to attending the upcoming Food Truck Wars in Surrey (Cloverdale) that take place on April 10th to 12th. If you are in the lower mainland during this time, please let me know as I would love some company!
