Destination #5: Planted Love

On Sunday, March 1st I ventured out to my fifth food truck stop. Via the Food Truck app I found a food truck at the Porty Moody Farmer’s Market so decided to go and check it out. When I got there a beautifully painted food truck immediately caught my eye called Planted Love. They can be found there once a month as well as Monday through Friday near Whole Foods at 8th and Cambie.
They are a 100% plant-based food truck specializing in Middle Eastern (Israeli) street food which was founded in 2022 by Chef Alexander Maman.

They are known for their home-made pita, hummus, falafel, and their signature dish the Sabich whichis a pita sandwich made with fried eggplant, cauliflower, hummus, tahini, zhoug, amba, and several other veggies.

I tried their falafel bowl which had tomatoes, pickles, cucumbers, pickled cabbage, and cilantro as well as various condiments such as hummus, tahini, zhug (a cilantro based hot sauce), and amba (a sauce made with pickled mango), as well as a side of pita bread. I’m typically not a huge fan of falafel as I find them quite dry, however their falafels were soft and tasty which made for a really delicious bite.
I would definitely recommend trying them out especially if you are looking for a plant-based option!
Find each of the food trucks I have visited on the map below, located in their country of origin and pinned in place with their country’s flag. Let’s see where I will go next!
